Twinly Privacy Policy
Twinly helps parents of twins track feeds, sleep, nappies, growth and related records, and share them with their partner. This policy explains what the app stores, where it goes, and how to get it back or remove it.

What we store
Held in your household's account, visible to you and any partner who joins with your invite code:
- Account: your email address and an encrypted password (handled by our authentication provider — we never see your password).
- Household: household name, invite code, pregnancy or postnatal stage, due date, feed-reminder setting.
- Your twins: names (if you add them), birth dates, and sex where you provide it for growth charts.
- Logs you create: feeds, breastfeeding and pumping, sleep, nappies, growth measurements, pregnancy symptoms, contractions, milestones, vaccines and medications, appointments, registry, budget, hospital-bag checklist, and shift plans.
- Notifications: if you enable them, a push subscription identifying your device to the browser's push service.
What stays on your device only
These never reach our servers:
- Which Learn articles you've read, your slider defaults, and any in-progress sleep timer.
- Your corrected-age chart preference.
- Your last searched location and cached nearby-places results.
- A cached copy of your household's data, so the app works offline.
Location
Location is only used when you tap "Use my location" in Out & About. Your coordinates are rounded to roughly 1 kilometre before they leave your device, sent to our own lookup service purely to find nearby places, and kept on your device. The rounded area — never your exact position, and never anything identifying you — is cached on our server so the same area doesn't have to be looked up repeatedly. Your coordinates are not saved to your household record and are not linked to your account.
Who else processes your data
- Supabase — database, authentication and notification delivery. Your data is stored in the EU (Ireland region).
- Vercel — hosts the app itself.
- OpenStreetMap / Overpass — our lookup service queries OpenStreetMap for place data using a rounded area only, with no account information.
- Your browser's push service (Apple, Google or Mozilla, depending on your device) — delivers notifications you have enabled.
There is no advertising, no analytics or tracking, and no third-party profiling in Twinly. We do not sell or share your data with anyone else, and we do not use your data to train machine-learning models.
Sharing with your partner
Anyone who joins your household with your invite code can see and edit everything in it, and can see which entries you created. Treat the invite code like a password and only share it with a person you want to have full access.
Your rights
Under GDPR you can exercise these directly in the app, under More → Your data & account:
- Access and portability: "Download all my data" exports everything your household holds as a JSON file.
- Rectification: entries can be edited or deleted at any time in the app.
- Erasure: "Delete my account" permanently deletes your account. If you are the only member of your household, all of its data is deleted with it; if your partner is still a member, the shared records stay with them and your account and authorship are removed.
You may also contact hello@twinly.ie for any of the above, and you have the right to complain to your data protection authority — in Ireland, the Data Protection Commission.
Legal basis and retention
We process this data to provide the service you have asked for (performance of a contract), and on your consent for optional features such as notifications and location, which you can withdraw at any time. Data is kept until you delete it or delete your account; deletion is immediate and permanent, and backups holding residual copies are rotated out within 30 days.
Children's data
Twinly is used by parents and carers, who are the account holders. Records about your children are entered by you and belong to your household — children do not have accounts and cannot sign in.
Not medical advice
Twinly is a personal record-keeping tool, not a medical device, and nothing in it is medical advice. Growth charts show WHO population reference curves for context only. Always follow your GP, public health nurse, pharmacist or maternity team.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes materially we will update the date above and notify you in the app before the change takes effect.
